I wanna JOIN Rules and Details

Well, it's that time of year when we are all putting together list of projects we want to get done before the end of the year for one holiday or another. So, while we are raiding the yarn stores for must have yarn we are also DOING ANOTHER KAL-CAL!

We know everybody needs a little support during this project intense time of year. So, we want to offer that support and a little energy with our podcast listeners. What better way of doing that than creating a KAL - CAL?

So, grab your hooks and needles and get ready to get going!

What is the project?

It's all about your project! We ask you join us between October 01, 2008 and January 3, 2009 in either knitting or crocheting your holiday project. You can submit however many completed projects as you get finished as long as they are created within the Holiday KAL - CAL time limit.

Here are some ideas for projects...that is if you still need any:

• Socks
• Dishcloths
• Scarfs, Hats, Mitts, Gloves
• Poncho
• Wrap, Shawl
• Sweater
• Vest
• Afghan (if this is your project you better start NOW!)
• Baby Items
• Doilies
• Purses, Bags
• Accessories
  

YOU choose what you have to make and go for it! HAVE FUN, BE CREATIVE, don't be afraid to veer away from your pattern and put your own touch on it if you care to. However, keep in mind they need to be family friendly as you never know who might be looking at our blog!

How do I join?

Wanted to jump on here and let you all know that the

deadline for joining this Kal-Cal

is November 27th, 2008!

We will then send you an invitation to join the blog so you can post about your project with the other participants. Be sure to also print out this post for you to file away as a reference.

*WARNING* By joining us you will automatically achieve an aura of uber-coolness! It is certain that you will find people being drawn to your new sense of status...you can proudly tell your family and friends; "I have been INVITED to participate in Yarn Things and Knaked Knits KAL - CAL". They will gasp with awe or have a blank look of total disinterest and you will move way up on their respect-o-meter...or at least on ours!

Why should I join?

Besides the fun of making your holiday projects, and the being able to connect to the knitting and crochet online community, and for the support and encouragement to have a FO instead of a UFO, there are also PRIZES!

We LOVE SWAG as much as all of you, and SWAG that is fiber related...EVEN BETTER!

Be sure to check them all out and give them some LOVE! We will add to the above URL each person who donates and a link to their site as they contact us. So, it is always being updated!

If you are interested in contributing, contact us via email and we will send you the details. You can contribute a prize until December 30, 2008.

How do I get some SWAG?

First, you MUST make SOMETHING ;-) You are expected to post on the Holiday Kal-Cal blog about any of the following:

• what you are making,
  
• thinking about making,
  
• what you made or
  
• what you decided not to make.

Then, you need to post a picture of your completed projects on the Flickr Group!

Now, listen, this is important!!!

PRIZES WILL BE CHOSEN FROM THE LIST OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE POSTED PICTURES TO THE FLICKR PAGE! That way we know who actually did something and didn't just join to possibly get some super cool prizes!

Everybody who participates will be placed in a blind drawing for randomly chosen prizes! So, though not everyone will win, EVERYBODY HAS A CHANCE TO WIN!!!

We are also thinking of selecting completed projects randomly throughout the Kal-Cal so you can win at anytime during the next 2.5 months!
